Visiting the city of Split

A city built on the edge of the breath taking Adriatic sea, Split is a Croatian paradise where tourists will find themselves feeling more relaxed and rejuvenated from the moment they step off the plane. Seen as something of a resort city, it’s undeniable that many people travel to this highly-populated city in order to unwind, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of things to see and do in this fascinating and historic area.

Believed to be over 1700 years old, it’s no surprise that there’s loads to learn when it comes to the history of Split. In fact, some archaeologists argue that the city is even older as they have found evidence that points to it having been an Ancient Greek city before becoming its present form, which could make it an even more historical location. In any case, there’s plenty to discover and you’ll be able to do it with ease thanks to the abundance of museums, art galleries and other attractions aimed to show off relics and artefacts of the past, as well as stunning paintings and sculptures dating back centuries. There are also fantastic family institutes, such as the Split Science Museum and Zoo, where you can take the kids out for a wonderful day of educational fun.

Be sure to take in the Archaeological Museum, the Split City Museum, the Ethnographical Museum, the Croatian Maritime Museum, the Gallery of Fine Arts and the Ivan Mestrovic Gallery among your explorations in order to gain a true picture of Split’s artistic and cultural heritage.

When not discovering the wonder behind Split indoors, take to the outdoors and stroll through the city to see how Split fares in today’s world. You’ll be able to see how locals like to live their life and discover a new way of life on your own, and thanks to the gorgeous fresh sea air that dominates the town, it won’t be long before you feel as if you’ve gained a new lease of life yourself! It’ll be times like this, when you’re relaxing with a cold drink and a plate of delicious local snacks on a veranda overlooking the sea, that you’ll wish you’d booked your hotel Split for a little longer.

Make the most of your stay in Split and try to combine relaxation with exploration in a way that you’ll feel you’ve made the best use of your time. Split is a truly wonderful city, with so much to see and do – so much that you may find yourself thinking about planning a return sometime in the near future!
