What to wear to a summer wedding
Summer can often mean a flood of wedding invitations falling through your letterbox. Once you get past the joy of seeing your best friends happy, you then have the task of finding the perfect outfit to make sure you look in style – just as long as you don’t outshine the bride.
The last thing anyone wants is to see someone in the same outfit as them so it’s important to take the time to work out exactly what’s perfect for you and make sure you are unique. Get out early to look at all the options on the high street. For summer weddings there are some great styles for all from formal to fun. If you can't decide where to start then there are some tips you can follow to make sure you stand out from the crowd.
The summer dress is a design classic. Light fabric and floral patterns are bound to make you feel at your feminine best. This option is perfect for accessorising as you can choose bright colours that match the fabric. There’s the added bonus that it’s not so formal that you’ll never wear it again.
Trouser suits are a simple and smart alternative to dresses. Light bright colours work best but the only person wearing white to the wedding should be the bride. For added elegance, wear high heels to help enhance your fabulous long legs.
For a more formal occasion then you can never go wrong with a cocktail dress. Don’t go overboard on the accessories - this look is classy and understated. Black is always a safe option but for a wedding try something more adventurous. Once you know your colour make sure your hair, nails and make up combine to give you a unified look. One piece of stunning jewellery will keep you looking stylish.
For the ultimate in glamour, you can make an impact with maxi dresses. With prints, stripes and sheer fabrics to choose from there is a maxi dress for everyone. This design classic isn’t going out of fashion any time soon so it’s an amazing investment for future summers. Bold accessories, like bangles or beads, will help to accentuate the sleek lines on your dress leaving you feeling like a style icon.
Don’t forget that the weather can be unpredictable so if you don’t have a jacket it’s always useful to carry a scarf or a shrug to cover your shoulders if the day is cool or night gets colder. If you know you will be spending time outside in the country then high heels are out of the question. There will be lots of photos of the event so you want to look comfortable as well as beautiful.
If you have more than one wedding to attend then you can get creative and try out multiple looks. With all these great fashions to choose from then there is no excuse not to go shopping.
