It’s with great pleasure, of course, that we’ve finally gone live with our initial plans at RobinHus.dk. This is the first major step in bringing new designer furniture alive on the internet.

The concept was to launch the decorator tool with floor plans on a variety of RobinHus listings by way of a “soft launch”, before going live with the entire listing of RobinHus homes for sale and, later, the user-interactive designer products with which to furnish those homes.

This initial design tool is integrated into RobinHus’ ad system and allows users to draw their own or request a floor plan of a house for sale. One of the key features of the tool is a 2D plan which allows the user to draw out the floor-plan of the home. Our previous blog shows how the design tool is integrated into RobinHus’ ads aimed at potential buyers. A clear and eye-catching icon is common to every visitor experience and creates an identity around the project as a whole. In the implementation of the project, RobinHus offers user-friendly integration with its website by making access to the tool directly from individual ads and by presenting a simple user-interface which immediately feels easy and straight forward to most users.

The central feature of the launch is the ability to decorate and furnish a home from a simple “drag’n’drop” panel, using products from leading manufacturers and retailers of home furniture. Users have the option of sorting available products by room type, furniture type or brand, or by a free search. A seamless buying experience is enhanced by the ability to click onto a 3D representation and lifting a 2D floor-plan or drawing into 3D. From there, it’s possible to view the dwelling in an “orbit rotate” perspective, rotating the house through every imaginable angle and allowing the opportunity to “walk” freely throughout the home.

The decorator tool allows the user to save his or her creation, post one or more design proposals in the ad itself or send them to friends and acquaintances. Giving free rein to the visitor’s creative design, the potential buyer can test out a whole range of remodeling options by manipulating the interactive floor-plan or by removing or adding walls.

There is no requirement for registering membership before saving or publishing any interior design. If you want to save a decorating scheme, it’s simply a question of creating a profile with a username and password, so that you can re-access – and, if necessary, change – any schemes you have saved previously.

We’re already working on a wide range of features to make the tool even more user-friendly so that visitors can really start making the very best use of it …
