Great Ideas For Fundraising

Fundraising is an integral part of running an organisation or club. Many of these groups are non-profit and generating extra money is a necessary process for their ongoing survival. Sponsors can provide a much needed cash boost to help the organisation pay for regular costs. But fundraising becomes very important when the club requires extra money for events or just to help with their overall cash flow.

One of the hardest ways to raise money is working out the best approach to take. Most people in a non-profit organisation are very passionate and their determination will help them make the most out their opportunities. So here are six ideas for fundraising which are effective and relatively easy to implement.

1. Chocolate Drives
Selling chocolate is a very good fundraiser and always seems to generate lots of money for clubs and schools. It is very successful because people love chocolates, the price is usually quite reasonable, and the kids selling them are very enthusiastic.

2. Guess How Many
Much like the chocolate fundraiser, this is a very popular way to raise money. A glass jar is filled with items that are easily counted, such as jelly beans. People are charged an amount to take a guess (for example one dollar), and at the end of the competition, the person who guessed closest to the right number in the jar wins it!

3. Auctions
An auction can be run in conjunction with a fete, a trivia night or even made into its very own night. They are a popular fundraising idea but you must ensure that you source good items for people to bid on. Sporting memorabilia is a very popular auction item, especially for schools and clubs. Asking a sporting club for a jersey or singlet and getting it signed by a high profile player (or entire team) can help bring a good price and raise lots of money in the auction.

Even if you have to buy the sports uniform to get signed, and pay for framing, the auction price should far outweigh the investment and be profitable for your organisation. Make sure you promote the event well in order to get maximum attendance for your fundraising event and attract the best possible price for the item or items.

4. Raffles
Selling raffle tickets is a great way to raise money for your organisation. Raffles are easy to run and everyone in the club or organisation can be given a book to sell. Raffles are one of the best ideas for fundraising because you can hire a professional raffle company to source the prizes and they already have the permits in place. Most professional raffle companies have a range of prizes to offer, which makes this a great fundraiser for all situations.

5. Lamington Drives
Everyone loves food, and selling lamingtons or pies is the perfect way to raise money. Make sure this is organised well with order forms sent to all members and strict dates to return your orders and money.

6. Movie Nights
This is something fun for everyone. Organise discount vouchers from your cinema or do a large group deal to save money. You can still charge everyone normal price, and the profits will go to your fundraising efforts. You may even want to hire a hall and have a DVD night and put on nibblies and charge a certain cost per head.

You may want to focus on one or several of these fundraising ideas to help earn some money for your club, school or other organisation. Whatever you choose, make sure you plan things well, and keep your enthusiam levels high. Good luck!
