Paintable Textured Wallpaper: Everything You Need To Know

Paintable textured wallpaper is essential in providing the textured covering of interior walls. The texture however, can be a similitude to an embossed fabric, molded plaster or carved wood. Paintable wallpapers are normally attached in living rooms, kitchens, hallways or bedrooms and can be furnished in any color that creates a customized look to interior walls.

Paintable wallpapers have been around since 1877. Lincrusta is the first paintable wallpaper invented and still remains to be the leading producer of textured paintable wall coverings. Made from combinations of wood and molded "Linseed Oil", Lincrusta wallpapers are best for covering interior flaws and are also effectively used in restoring old buildings. Anaglypta is the second invented paintable wall covering made from combined cotton and paper materials. Anaglypta is meticulously embossed to create a "raised effect" in covering interior walls and its flaws.

The newest paintable wallpapers available in the market are made from breathable and fire-resistant glass textiles. In addition, the glass fibers provide stability to damaged wall interiors - holding small cracks together to prevent crumbling risks. Damaged glass textiles can be repainted by using a sanding paper.

Paintable wallpapers combines the luxurious appeal of interior walls and the changeability of paint. Once the wallpaper is installed, it can last up to 20 years. The "Raised Pattern" style of installation lends the expensive yet personalized look of any home. The paintable wallpapers are said to be cheaper, making it a viable alternative in replacing poorly-textured drywalls, wood-paneled interior coverings or damaged areas. Also, paintable wallpapers are more durable than the other types of wallpaper, making it very resistant to wall scratches.

The only problem of paintable wallpapers is that it's irremovable. Many paintable wall coverings are becoming expensive due to the inclusion of high-quality materials. In fact, it doesn't serve as a best option for those who are budget-conscious.

Installing a paintable wallpaper can be a tricky job. You have to ensure that any old wallpaper is totally removed before installing them, especially if it's a "glass fiber" type. You need to fill in the masonry interior walls with a sanding paper or non-shrinking mud before papering them for finishes. For beginners, here are five steps on installing paintable wall coverings.

? Clean the walls first. If possible, apply a "wallpaper sizing" with water in cleaning the walls for protection from any dirt or moisture.
? Measure out the wall from one corner to the right before placing a mark that will represent the wallpaper's width. Place the wall's "carpenter level" on the mark then adjust it afterwards.
? Draw a line using the "wall level" as your guide. Measure the distance between the corner and top of the line.
? Measure the wall's height then add 4 inches if possible. Cut a piece of the wallpaper before folding the adhesive sides together in order to shrink back from its original width.
? Unfold the wall covering's piece before placing its right edge along the "plump line" which is drawn against the interior coverings.
