Make a Fall Wreath with Ribbons

The decorating season is just starting to gear up. From now until the end of the year, people start pulling out items to decorate their homes with. We all know Christmas is the biggest time of year for decorations, but don't let fall pass you by. A warm, cheery | beautiful fall wreath on your front door made from ribbons is just the thing to kick | start off the season. Store bought wreathes are nice, but a handmade | custom one will give your home that special look and is easy to make.

You'll need the following materials to get started:
? One 18" wire wreath (sold at most craft stores)
? About 12 spools (4yds each) of ribbon in coordinating fall colors
? Fancy bow
Once you have your ribbon, take a seat on the couch, turn on your favorite TV show and start cutting ribbon. You'll need to cut the ribbon into 6" strips. You can make the strips a little longer which make them easier to tie, but you may need more ribbon to complete | finish the wreath. If the thought of cutting that much ribbon is daunting, make it a family cutting party and have everyone cut a few spools. Stack your cut ribbon into piles by color so they will be easy to work with.
Now for the fun! Start tying your ribbon pieces randomly on your wire wreath. No need to tie bows or anything fancy, just a simple knot will work fine | great. Arrange your ribbon colors so that they complement one another. Keep knotting until you no longer see the wire wreath. You may have to go back and add ribbon knots here and there to completely cover the wreath. Less is definitely not more in this instance when it comes to ribbon!
Once your wreath is filled with ribbon knots, place your fancy bow on the wreath as a finishing touch. Hang it on your door and you are sure to get compliments from your neighbors. This easy | simple fall craft should only take a couple of hours, and you can get the whole family involved for an afternoon of fall fun!
