In today's economy, we do everything we can to save money. Since gas prices are so expensive, we combine as many chores into one trip as possible. Coupons are all over the place and if we take the time and put forth a little effort, a lot of money can be saved. Here are some great couponing tips that will help you organize and optimize your coupons so you can save as much money as possible.

1. Find a way to organize your coupons that makes sense to you and stick to it. Either organize alphabetically or by product type.

2. Be aware of what coupons you have and make a grocery/buy list based on those coupons. That way you don't miss using a coupon because you forgot about it.

3. Once a week, sit down and go through your coupons and pay particular attention to the expiration dates. Any coupons that are close, make special note to see if you can use them.

4. Don't just use a coupon because you have a coupon. If you don't need the product or won't use it, then no coupon in the world is going to ‘save' you money.

5. Check out websites that specialize in tracking down deals. Many times with register rewards and coupons at some stores products can wind up being free. Most of these sites also have printable coupons you can take advantage of as well.

6. Make sure you get the Sunday paper. There are coupons for a lot of great products in them every week.

7. Use coupons on double coupon days. Again, depending on the product the net result could be free.

8. Look for ways to combine coupons. Some coupons leave loopholes where you can use more than one coupon on a deal like buying one product and getting another free, but being able to use a coupon on the original product.

9. Make sure you get the register rewards swipe cards. These always give you discounts and some let you build towards deeper discounts and money off of purchases.

Getting the most out of your coupons and tracking down deals does take time and effort. But it can definitely be worth all the time and effort when you see how much money you can save. Not only can you get hundreds of dollars worth of products for next to nothing, some situations can even pay you money. Saving money in today's world is a definite necessity, so taking the best advantage of coupons is definitely going to be an easy way to do it.
