The first thing which comes to everybody’s mind when they hear “Washington DC” is the city of diplomats. It’s hard to believe that anybody mentions it for amusement or entertainment. But I assure you that you are going to have end number of entertaining things to do in Washington DC. There are all kinds of amusement parks and leisure centers to make you feel on top of the world.


For art and heritage lovers, there is a National Portrait Gallery where you can find all the historical portraits. It showcases the art of renowned sculptors which is enchanting and rare. Visitors come to see the older paintings and portraits here. It is quite an institution for the students of art and culture.
Another highlight of Washington DC is Smithsonian National Zoological Park. Going there is one the most exciting things to do in Washington DC. It is commonly known as the National Zoo. It is one of the oldest zoos in the United States which aims at providing animal care. One campus of the zoo is at the distance of 20 minutes from the National Mall if you cover it by Metro. It is an absolute fun to go there with family and friends. You get to see all kinds of endangered animals like Smoky bear, giant panda, elephants, red panda, cheetah, lion etc.
If you feel like tasting the delight and ecstasy of art then move to The Smithsonian American Art Museum. It is known for an extensive collection of American art. The museum has a vast section of American art that covers all segments which one can come across in United States. One of its collections represents famous artists like Nam June Paik, David Hockney, John Singer Sargent, Albert Bierstadt, Thomas Moran, Edward Hopper and Winslow Homer
This museum comprises of two public spaces which are the Luce Foundation Center for American Art and the Lunder Conservation Center. The first one boasts of presenting around 3,300 objects in 64 secure glass cases. It also showcases paintings hung on screens, crafts, sculptures and folk art objects arranged on shelves. Its rare collection of miniatures and medals is worth mentioning. It has an interactive computer kiosk to provide information to the public about every object on display which includes a discussion of each artwork, biographies of artists, audio-video clips and still images.
Adding to this there is an International Spy Museum based on historical practices of spying and tradecraft. It is the first ever museum to present such collection publicly.
