Other requirements include physical fitness and the ability to work well with your hands. You will have to get used to working in tight spaces when you set up wiring. If you ever want a leadership role, you should do well in English and have excellent communication skills.
Finding a School - There are plenty of schools and courses available for those interested in electrician training. Avoid online scams by choosing a curriculum that is sponsored by distinguished associations. The best place to start is your local community college or vocational school.
Keep in mind that it may take you up to four years to become an electrician. You will have to receive up to 140 hours of classroom studies as well as 2,000 hours of hands-on training. The classes you will be taking encompass both fundamental knowledge and skills, including soldering training, blueprint reading and interpretation, electrical code studying, first aid training, and so on.
Obtaining a License - If you have a license, you will be able to find a good job. In some states, having a license is a requirement. Even if it isn't a requirement in your area, you should still become a licensed electrician, since doing so will increase your credibility.
Continuing Your Education - Getting a license doesn't mean your education has come to an end. Electricity and technology is changing and improving all the time, so you should advantage of opportunities to enroll in more training classes whenever something new comes up in your field.
