EARTHING SYSTEMS

How safe would you feel if you wish to open your refrigerator for a drink & it gives you an electric shock of your life? Or if your wife uses her hair dryer to find it giving not only shocks but also burns her hair. Getting your electronic devices getting repaired again would be like pain in the neck for sure. The injuries caused by electrical currents are far more intense. Electrical accidents are common where electrical installations are more like intensive care units. But Lightening can also bring about severe damages.

Electrical supply to our homes & offices is like electrical cables which supply us with regular supply of electricity. Electrical Earthing system for each property depends on the earthing system of the electricity supplier. The earthingsystem protect us from electicity shocks by connecting to the earthing conductors at the main earthing terminal at the main point where the supply is provided by the electricity company. With the use of the earthing system, electricity cannot flow between the terminals due to which the risk of electric shock is highly reduced. It is highly recommended that a detailed labeled diagram of the entire circuit including the breakers & earthing terminals is displayed at every house hold at the place of main electric terminal in the property. This will help every electrician to work ina planned manner in case of an emergency.

There are various arrangements by which earthing is provided to a property which makes it electric shock proof. There are some electric suppliers who do not provide earth electrodes to the customer for earthing requirements. Insuch cases the consumer has to make his own arrangements to install earth electrodes for earthing. Copper being a good conductor of electricity is used in the form of Copper Bonded Rods & is the most commonly used earthing system. At other places, separate neutral & other earthing devices like lightening arrester are used. At some places, fuse system is placed.

Some common earthing materials are gel earthing substances, chemical earthing components, back fill compounds which are some of great help. And that’s how we are protected from electricity.No body wants their family to get electrocuted. Fun is to play safe and follow all required safety measures and protect our valuable family.
